North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG)
Regional Transit 2.0
NCTCOG is poised to develop the future of transit in the North Central Texas region, with the development of the Regional Transit 2.0 program. InfraStrategies is leading the year-long program by engaging with stakeholders through a series of interviews, focusing on the three existing transit authorities in the region: Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), Trinity Metro, and the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA).
The team is looking at how to increase transit authority membership by examining current policies and legislative mandates, developing collaborations between the transit authorities, and fostering transit authority board partnerships and teamwork. Our subject matter experts are developing strategies for in-fill development to enhance service efficiency and increase ridership, reviewing fare collection strategies to increase ridership without lowering revenue, and addressing the transit authority-member city paradox, which involves examining the relationship between transit authorities and member cities and finding ways to optimize collaboration and resource sharing. These findings will support the development of recommendations for addressing the financial and operational challenges faced by transit authorities in the region.
